The UAE has only just enjoyed a three-day break for Islamic New Year, but if you’re already counting down to the next public holiday, we get it.

There will be at least 12 public holidays in 2026, with exact start dates depending on official moon sightings.

If you’re wondering when you’ll next enjoy some time off, these are the dates to know.

The next public holiday in the UAE will be for The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday.

Public and private sector workers across the UAE are entitled to a public holiday date, which happens annually.

Dubai residents will officially get the day off to celebrate on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ Al-Awwal.

Officially, this looks to fall on Tuesday August 25, however, due to the current public holiday law, which allows the days to be moved, we expect this to be moved to Monday August 24.

This would then give everyone a three-day weekend. However, we’ll have to wait for the official government announcement to know for sure.

Here are all the predicted public holiday dates in the UAE this year.

  • New Year’s Day: Thursday January 1 (Confirmed)
  • Eid Al Fitr: Thursday March 19 – Saturday March 21 (Confirmed)
  • Arafat Day: Tuesday May 26 (Confirmed)
  • Eid Al Adha: Wednesday May 27 – Friday May 29 (Confirmed)
  • Islamic New Year: Monday June 15 (Confirmed)
  • The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH): Monday August 24 (official day to fall on Tuesday August 25, holiday moved to start of the week)
  • National Day: Wednesday December 2 and Thursday December 3
