Abu Dhabi is known for many things (the world’s fastest rollercoaster, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and tax-free living spring to mind).

And when it comes to the golfing scene it is well known for being home to several top golf courses and plays host to some of the world’s best tournaments.

Proving that Abu Dhabi is up there with golfers, a new study has revealed that one of the city’s golf courses is one of the most searched in the world.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club secured seventh place on the ranking due to its 8,675 Instagram hashtags and 5,000 average monthly search volume, according to a new study conducted by premium hi-tech golf apparel brand Galvin Green.

First place has been scooped up by Augusta National, located in Georgia, USA, with 107,119 Instagram hashtags and 54,050 average monthly search volume.

Second place has been snapped up by TPC Sawgrass, in Florida, USA, with 56,552 Instagram hashtags and 73,717 average monthly search volume.

St. Andrews golf course in Scotland came in third with 45,658 Instagram hashtags and 55,317 average monthly search volume.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club wasn’t the only UAE golf club to make the list, with Emirates Golf Club securing fourth place.

Google Keyword Planner and Instagram data were used to determine which courses and prestigious clubs have attracted the most golfers to their landing pages and social following over the past year.

The study combined 12 common search terms related to golf clubs to reveal the global average monthly search volume for every course and the number of hashtags for each location.
