Dubai Police have dismantled three criminal gangs involved in orchestrating elaborate phone scams targeting citizens and residents.

The coordinated operation, led by the Fraud Control Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation of Dubai Police, resulted in the arrest of 13 individuals of Asian nationality.

The suspects were found impersonating officials from law enforcement and banking institutions, calling victims under false pretenses such as updating banking information, settling traffic fines, or resolving visa-related issues. By exploiting public trust in official authorities, the scammers tricked individuals into revealing sensitive financial details, including their CVV numbers and one-time passwords (OTPs), allowing the criminals to access and drain bank accounts.

This operation is part of the Dubai Police’s ongoing campaign to combat cyber fraud and enhance public awareness, ensuring the community remains protected against evolving scam tactics.

Dubai Police urged residents to remain vigilant and warned them not to disclose any personal or banking information over the phone, especially when unsolicited. Authorities clarified that legitimate institutions, including banks, never request such details through phone calls, SMS, or emails.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or communication immediately through the “eCrime” platform at www.ecrime.ae, the Dubai Police app, or by visiting the nearest police station.
