Oman will be opening the Oman Adventure Centre on Wednesday in the Musandam Governorate as part of its efforts to boost tourism in the country. Visitors can also take advantage of world’s longest zipline over water in Oman.

The dual zipline, which spans over 1,800 metres, was soft launched by the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) in the Wilayat of Khasab, a report by the Oman Observer said.

The zipline is the first activity offered by the Oman Adventure Centre, and is aimed at diversifying its tourism market by “providing a variety of quality products and experiences,” the report added.

Managed and operated by LEOS – a specialist operator for adventure and entertainment projects, regionally and internationally – the zipline project “serves as a quality benchmark for developing tourism products and enhanced tourism experiences.”

“The ministry is working to stimulate development and investment in various key tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman, especially in the Governorate of Musandam,” Said Bin Hareb Al Obaidani, Director General of Tourism Development at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said.

Al Obaidani also said that hiking and mountain biking trails were being developed in the Musandam governorate. This also includes the installation of informational and guiding signboards, which meet all safety and security standards.

The zipline project saw over 2,000 experiments conducted on it before its opening, and was completed with the “highest standards and specifications,” the report said. In addition, the project’s security and safety have been verified as well.

The world’s longest zipline at Oman Adventure Centre will be open to visitors from 9AM to 4PM during the weekdays, weekends and official holidays.
