More than 3,800 tenants were moved from their homes after a fire swept through a Dubai Marina residential building on Friday night.

The fire broke out in the upper floors of the Tiger Tower - also known as Marina Pinnacle - in the busy district at about 9.30pm.

Dubai Civil Defence teams were still on site trying to contain the blaze at about 2.30am on Saturday. Authorities said no injuries were reported.

"Specialised teams successfully evacuated 3,820 residents from 764 apartments in the 67-storey building safely and with no injuries," Dubai Media Office said in a statement issued on social media at 2.26am on Saturday.

"Civil defence teams continue their efforts to fully contain the fire after confirming the safety of all building residents."

Video shot had shown emergency services arriving at the scene when flames engulfed a section of the building.

Fire crews units have remained on site for several hours in an effort to control the intense blaze, which spread to other areas of the building.

"Ambulance teams and medical staff are on site to offer full medical and mental support to the safely evacuated residents," the media office said.

Many tenants who fled the tower block gathered in the street outside as a large emergency presence fought to prevent the fire from spreading further.

The cause of the fire is not known. Dubai Civil Defence has been contacted for further comment.
